Teacher Leadership Fellowship

With support from NewSchools Venture Fund and DC Public Schools (DCPS), Leading Educators launched an individual teacher leadership fellowship program in Washington, D.C. in June 2013.

Over the course of four years, Leading Educators partnered with 38 open-enrollment public charter schools and a small portfolio of DC Public Schools (DCPS) to train and coach over 100 teacher leaders in adult learning and rigorous standards-aligned instruction. Leading Educators was recognized with a Martin Luther King Jr. Community Partner Award from Paul Public Charter School in 2016 for these efforts.

“Having teachers in Leading Educators has helped improve the quality of our instructional coaching and teacher leadership at the school. [Leading Educators Fellows] really set the bar for modeling excellence in leadership. They are also able to deliver high quality professional development that improves teacher practice.”
