About Dr. Brittany Whitby

Dr. Brittany Whitby is an educational leader with over a decade of experience in teaching and school leadership. As the Director of Content and Coaching-School Leadership for the Michigan team at Leading Educators, she coaches K-8 principals and district leaders in strategic planning and professional development to implement effective programming.

During her 2.5 years at Leading Educators, Dr. Whitby has achieved impressive results in both Kentwood Public Schools and Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD). Her work transformed coaching practices, leading to 100% of Kentwood participants implementing Data-Driven Instruction and 67% of DPSCD principals adopting Action-Oriented Coaching. Additionally, 100% of DPSCD assistant superintendents confirmed that program goals were met. She has been featured as a speaker at EdTech Week and ASCD conferences, sharing expertise on AI bias in education and data-driven student success strategies.

Before joining Leading Educators, Dr. Whitby led her school to a Top 10 ranking in math growth on the statewide assessment as a K-8 Director of Math. She was recognized as Teacher of the Year during her time in the classroom and has also been acknowledged for her coaching and development work with organizations such as Teach for America, the University of Pennsylvania, and D.C. Public Schools. These experiences continue to shape her belief in the power of strong leadership and data-informed practice to transform outcomes.

Dr. Whitby holds an Ed.D. in Leadership and Learning in Organizations from Vanderbilt University, an M.Ed. from Johns Hopkins University, and a B.A. in Psychology from Hampton University. Outside of work, she is passionate about travel and fitness, which she sees as ways to stay curious, nurture balance, and engage with new perspectives. These commitments reflect the same philosophy that drives her professional life: that excellence means cultivating meaningful opportunities where students, educators, and leaders thrive through purposeful support, thoughtful use of data, and a relentless commitment to growth.
